01 Do not add cooling water to the water tank or add it after starting
Adding cooling water after starting the diesel generator can cause important components such as the hot cylinder liner and cylinder head to explode or deform due to sudden cooling. Similarly, if 100 ℃ boiling water is suddenly added to a cold body, it can also cause the cylinder head and body to crack. The correct method is to add cooling water before starting the diesel engine. Preheat the engine with warm water at around 60 ℃ before starting.
02 Do not supply oil according to regulations
We should not start supplying fuel to the generator only when or after starting the diesel engine. We should connect the oil pipe to the diesel engine before starting it. The harm of not operating according to this regulation is that when starting the diesel engine, if we first increase the throttle to supply fuel, it will cause fuel waste, and the excess diesel will wash the cylinder wall, deteriorate the lubrication between the piston, piston ring, and cylinder liner, and aggravate wear. The excess oil flowing into the oil pan will dilute the oil and reduce the lubrication effect, resulting in incomplete combustion of too much diesel in the cylinder and the formation of carbon deposits. The correct method is to preheat the engine first, then supply fuel through the fuel valve, and then start.
03 Do not start the car while pulling it
Pulling and starting a diesel engine when the engine oil is viscous in cold conditions will intensify the wear between various moving parts, thereby reducing the service life of the diesel engine.
04 Do not change lubricating oil or fuel on schedule
The temperature in winter and summer is different, and the oil used is also different. In high-temperature areas during summer, if lubricating oils with good high-temperature resistance indicators (such as 40, 50, 60, etc.) are not used, the antioxidant stability of the lubricating oil will deteriorate, exacerbating its thermal decomposition, oxidation, and polymerization, and making it prone to deterioration. At the same time, the viscosity of lubricating oil will decrease with the increase of temperature, which can easily cause rapid consumption of lubricating oil; In winter, if low viscosity lubricating oil and low solidification diesel are not used in a timely manner, the internal resistance of the diesel engine will be high, making it difficult to start and accelerating the wear of various moving parts.
05 Do not use open flames for baking
To prevent fires, it is necessary to use a low flame or coal flame to bake the oil pan of the diesel engine at a certain distance (30cm away), while slowly shaking the oil shaft to evenly heat the engine oil and lubricate all parts. If ignition is started at the intake pipe of a diesel engine, the ash and hard debris generated by material combustion will be sucked into the cylinder, causing the intake and exhaust valves to not close tightly and accelerating cylinder wear. The best way is to install a water jacket heater on the diesel generator to maintain the temperature of the water tank and cylinder body at all times, ensuring that the generator set can be started at any time.
06 Do not directly add engine oil to the cylinder
Adding engine oil to the cylinder can provide a sealing, boosting, and warming effect, making it easier for the diesel engine to start from a cold engine. However, the engine oil cannot be completely burned, which can lead to carbon buildup and weaken the elasticity of the piston rings, resulting in a decrease in the sealing performance of the cylinder. In addition, it will accelerate the wear of cylinder liners, leading to a decrease in power of the diesel engine and making it more difficult to start, so oil cannot be directly added to the cylinder.
07 Avoid prolonged continuous startup
The engine on a diesel engine operates under low voltage and high current conditions, and prolonged use can damage the battery. The continuous startup time cannot exceed 5 seconds. If a startup fails, it should be restarted after 15 seconds.
08 Avoid high-speed operation immediately after startup
After a cold start of a diesel engine, due to being in a cold state, the viscosity of the engine oil is high and the flow resistance is also large, causing a delay in the time for the oil to enter the friction pair. The various parts of the diesel engine are not fully lubricated, resulting in poor lubrication of the gears and bearings of the diesel engine and damage. At the same time, it also exacerbates the wear of the cylinder and bearings, and in severe cases, it can even cause bearing burning and shaft holding. Only by idling for 3 minutes and then running the generator set at high speed can the operating status of the generator set be ensured.
